Selma to Montgomery

Web Design

2016

As part of Black History Month I decided to make a website focused on celebrating equality for all American citizens. I elected on one of the final integral pieces which helped African-Americans receive full voting rights—the march from Selma, AL to Montgomery, AL. I wanted the pictures to tell the story so I opted to have the website rely heavily on imagery with small paragraphs of text to compliment the images and solidify their story. The UI was heavily influenced behind the idea of presenting the information in a linear, timeline. I decided the best way to accomplish this was to present the story in a slideshow style. A user could skip to any part of the story from the menu but it always defaults to starting at the beginning.

My Role
As a personal project, my role involved everything from the conception of the idea to the sketching and wire-framing the layout to the final deliverables.
